Erin Moriarty was born and raised in New York City (USA). Erin describe herself as independent and even a little rebellious temperament even when she was little. In one instance, while on a sleepover, she and her friend sneaked out of the house at night and roamed around New York City.

She very first began acting at 11 years old, starring as Annie in a 2005 community theater production of 'Annie' (November 2005). She wanted to become an actor ever since she was kid, but she began taking it seriously when she graduated high school. Following her graduation, she dropped the idea of attending college and decided to try her luck in acting instead. She then moved to Los Angeles. She did not regret, as almost immediately after landing in Los Angeles, she began getting good acting assignments.

In 2010, she launched her acting career in a way many hopefuls dream of: with an awards-recognized project, she first appeared on screen in the Emmy-nominated long time run soap opera 'One Life to Live'. She played the character Whitney Bennett in six episodes who aired from May 20 to April 15, 2010.

In 2011, she built on her TV work with a guest role Dru in Season 12 Episode 15 of 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit'.

The same year, Erin landed a small part in her first feature film. Acting alongside Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill, she appeared in the sci-fi comedy 'The Watch' as Chelsea (Vince Vaughn's in the film).

In 2013, she took another supporting gig in a movie. She played Kelly (the love interest of Nick Robinson's character) in the coming-of-age drama 'The Kings of Summer' who follows three teenagers who hatch a plan to part ways with their parents and live off the land in a house built by themselves. On how she got the part, Erin said:

"I was sent the script, and I read it and loved it. The stakes were high because I was nervous. You know, I was really attached to the role and the script. And I went in, and met with Jordan-the director-and from there we did a chemistry read with the other boys so we could develop the dynamics and we could see what it was like between the three of us."

"It was so different. It was almost like a foreign environment to me. I was playing this character that grew up in this suburban environment, which is the opposite of how I grew up. But it's funny, because I could still draw so many parallels from me to my character. Regardless of whether you grew up in New York City or you live in Beachwood, Ohio, when you're 14 years old and you're a young girl, you're going to go through the same type of things."

The same year, she portrayed Natalie Walraven (the daughter of Radha Mitchell's character) in the short-lived ABC drama series 'Red Widow'.

By then, Erin had a significant body of work on her resume for a young actor of her age. She bagged one of the key roles in the psychological thriller film 'After the Dark'. She played a zoologist named Vivian. The film won awards at many film festivals. However, it could not manage to achieve commercial success.

In 2014, she stayed in TV with a recurring role Marty Hart (the daughter of Woody Harrelson's hard character) in the first season of the Emmy-winning and Golden Globe-nominated 'True Detective'. It was a role that required her to appear in three episodes.

Since the show wrapped, Erin has said playing a Goth was "fun... because it's the opposite of how I present myself, and is the opposite of any role I'd been considered for."

In September 2014, Erin was named one of the best actors under twenty years of age by IndieWire.

In February 2015, Erin joined the main cast on hit Netflix crime action series 'Jessica Jones'. In the show's first season, which was released in November 2015, she played Hope, a college student with a difficult life. She really enjoyed playing this role, as she told Comic Book Resources:

"It's fun as an actor, it's very dramatic, there's never a dull moment. It's like, it's kind of juicy almost. That's an actor's dream to have those kind of dramatic storylines."

In 2016, she chained the roles. She appeared in the action thriller 'Blood Father', a film starring Mel Gibson. She played Gibson's daughter and received praise from critics such as praise from critics such as Manohla Dargis of The New York Times, Alonso Duralde of TheWrap, and Owen Gleiberman of Variety.

She also joined 'Captain Fantastic', starring Viggo Mortensen. She played a supporting role of Claire (the love interest of George MacKay's character) in the film festival favorite about the changing dynamics of a unique family. For this film, she was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

Later that year, she starred in the horror film 'Within'. She portrayed young Hannah Alexander, who moved to a new house with her dad. As always happens in such films, that house had terrible secrets and mortal danger. Both critics and viewers didn't like the film much because it had a lot of clichés.

Still in 2016, she played in 'Sextant' short film from Bonnie Wright.

In June 2016, she was cast in lead role of the feature film 'The Miracle Season' along with Danika Yarosh and Helen Hunt; the film was released in 2018.

In 2017, she made an uncredited apparition in the blockbuster 'Kong: Skull Island' as a bar guest.

The same year, she played the main role in drama TV movie 'Controversy' as Cassie Sullivan. She also made an apparition in one episode of TV comedy 'Pillow Talk'. She played Autumn and the episode was released on April 24, 2017.

In December 2017, she was cast as Annie January/Starlight in 'The Boys' from Amazon Studios adaptation of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comic book of the same name. First season of the series was released in July 2019. Erin's character, who is one of such gifted children, gets into a team of the strongest American heroes, the Seven. However, she begins to realize that the inside world of superhero business is a lie and violence. The TV series became a sensation of a summer season, mainly thanks to a fresh way of looking at a superhero theme that had become outdated

In 2018, she appeared in the films 'The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir' and 'Monster Party'.

Later that year, she appeared in 'Driven' which centers around the sting operation which brought down auto mogul John DeLorean; the movie premiered at the 2018 Venice Film Festival and was filmed in Puerto Rico in 2017 during Hurricane Maria.

Since she was cast in Amazon Studios 'The Boys', she's still working on this project. The show's second season premiered in September 2020 with a third season confirmed for 2021.

Frances McDormand and Helen Hunt are her idols. Carey Mulligan is one of her favorites among her younger idols. Erin says that she is terrific. Since 2014, Erin has been living in Los Angeles, but she still misses her precious New York, her home city. She tries to stay in shape by practicing every day. Reading is her main passion.

How would you describe your personal style? Fairly simple with colorful accents. I have always preferred chic, classic clothing paired with colorful shoes or fun jewelry. My parents are both very stylish, so they always encouraged me to explore when it came to personal style. I went through a lot of crazy phases, and I'm still finding myself.

What designers would you love to wear on a red carpet? I love Chloé, Alexander Wang, Balenciaga, and Givenchy. I think they make beautiful dresses that balance classic style with more fun, contemporary looks.

What's your favorite piece you own? I own a pair of high-heeled sandals from Rag & Bone that I live in. I'm really awkward when it comes to walking in heels, but these sandals aren't too high and still give me an extra inch. They're so comfortable and pretty at the same time! Who are your style icons? I love the way Michelle Williams and Alexa Chung dress. I think that Michelle Williams wears a really great variety of clothes- whether it's more casual or on the red carpet. She'll wear a feminine, classic dress one week and a contemporary dress the next. Alexa Chung is similar in the sense that she wears really beautiful, classic clothing with an occasional statement piece.

Favorite book? I love The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien and A Midsummer Night's Dream (even though that technically counts as a play) by Shakespeare. I had a wonderful English teacher in high school who really fed my passion for reading.

Favorite movie? This is such a hard question to answer because I have so many! Fargo definitely makes it into my top three favorite films of all time; I have a serious obsession with the Coen brothers.

What director or actor/actress would you love to work with? I would love to work with the Coen brothers and Terrence Malick. I love both of their bodies of work so much, so I'm really interested in acting under their direction. First-time directors can be great to work with, too. Jordan Vogt-Roberts directed me in Kings of Summer, which was his debut feature. I got to witness the passion and hunger that first-time directors bring to projects and ever since then I've been very intrigued when I've come across a project with a less experienced director.

What movie always makes you cry? Beasts of the Southern Wild, which I have watched a few times, and I've grown to really love it. It's not a blatantly sad film, but it's definitely morally complex and for some reason I always cry at the end. The father/daughter relationship in the film really touches me and is always a tearjerker.

What movie always cheers you up? 500 Days of Summer and Bridesmaids. 500 Days of Summer is such a sweet movie, and for some reason it makes me really happy. Bridesmaids is just funny, and anything that can make me laugh cheers me up.
